How will you get the items to the Disaster Site?
After we sort, categorize and inventory the items at our facilities, the manifests for the shipments will be provided to our partners who will then arrange transportation and, if necessary, custom clearance to either ship those items via commercial flights or container shipments to the areas in need.
Do you also accept items not on the list?
You are welcome to donate items not listed. If those items are not needed for the Bahamas, we will ship those items to provide humanitarian aid to one of the countries listed below.
Will the donations really go to Disaster Relief?
Based on the current local assessments from our partners, the items listed are needed and will be shipped. This is subject to change due to needs changing on the ground.
If items are for any reason not required anymore, they will be used to provide humanitarian aid where most needed.

Yes, we are very thankful if you organize drives and deliver those items to one of our locations.
Do you need volunteers?
Yes, we need volunteers daily for all of our programs. In terms of specific groups for disaster relief, it depends how many volunteers we already have scheduled and products needing to be sorted.
Hurricane Dorian ResponseHurricane Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas on Sunday, September 1st, 2019 as a Category 5 hurricane and one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record. It stalled there for 3 days wreaking havoc and destroying homes and businesses. The depth of the destruction in the Bahamas is becoming more clear as rescue workers are finally able to reach the most devastated areas. The official death toll now stands at 30, but is expected to rise quickly as the search and rescue efforts continue. Bahamian Prime Minister Hubert Minnis said Dorian left "generational devastation" and is asking for prayers for families of the deceased. There are no official estimates of the number of people displaced by the storm, but in Marsh Harbour, as many as 2,000 people were seeking shelter in a clinic and a government complex. For more than 60,000 survivors, the prospect of food and water shortages are very real.
We are responding by engaging our community and corporate partners to give product donations and financial donations toward relief efforts. We have joined with our longtime partner, Food for the Poor, who is coordinating relief efforts in the Bahamas in conjunction with their recipient organizations and local government officials. Thank you for your generosity as we support those in need. |
Hurricane Harvey ResponseCategory 4 Hurricane Harvey descended on coastal Texas and Louisiana late on Friday, August 25, leaving a path of damage and destruction. Now downgraded to an extremely slow-moving tropical storm, Harvey’s record rainfall is causing extreme flooding in Houston, the nation’s 4th largest city, and surrounding areas. Harvest Time is responding by gathering much needed supplies from individual and corporate donors and working with local agencies to distribute the goods to those affected by the storm.

Hurricane Matthew ResponseHurricane Matthew has left behind widespread destruction and catastrophic loss of life. It wreaked havoc throughout it's path leaving at least 1,027 dead and well over 60,000 people displaced. Harvest Time International is responding by gathering and distributing much needed supplies to the affected areas through our strategic partnership network.

Louisiana Flood ResponseLouisiana is currently facing the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and we are responding by sending truckloads of supplies as we receive them to our partner organizations in the area. The need is great as more than 40,000 homes have been damaged, 25,000 people have been displaced, and over 800,000 people have been affected by this historic disaster.
